The Boston Nature Center is home to the city’s first green public building. Smack dab in the middle of a nature sanctuary, The George Robert White Environmental Conservation Center serves as a prime example of how to design a green building. Light, air, energy and recyclable materials are combined to create a healthy (for humans and the earth) and comfortable atmosphere for work, education and play. We were like kids in a candy store when Andrew Birch showed us all the smart technologies implemented to create and conserve energy. Special thanks to Ashley from SustainableRoute.com for helping gather footage and interview.

Thanks, excellent information on green housing.
I love this one, thanks. I was especially impressed by the modular carpet concept. Also, from an editor geek perspective, I liked the end credits.
Great stuff.
Here in the UK the government are now saying that all new homes must be ‘carbon neutral’ by 2016. Of course Id like it to happen much sooner, and theres all the existing housing stock to worry about, which is often hard to upgrade fully (eg my house doesnt face south). But its some exciting progress anyway. Ive never been a home owner, I hope that if/when I do, its one thats sustainable in more than just superficial ways. There was certainly lots of good stuff in the place you showcase in that video, always room for more but it seemed inspiring to me, which is very important.
At last we can say we are at least in the era where green/sustainable/energy efficient stuff has expiring examples of how homes, workplaces, transport etc should be. Your videos are doing a great job of highlighting some of these, its nice to find out what sort of stuff is going on in the USA, we have similar sorts of projects dotted around the UK from what Ive seen so far.
Ive got a heck of a lot to learn about sustainable homes. Here in the UK we like traditionally to make 2 storey homes out of brick. I was just watching something on the BBC site from Norway, about the homes they build out of wooden panels with lots of insulation.
Thanks for the inspiration, Im off to find out what my ideal home might consist of, for all I know it could be a hobbit-hole!
this one was great!
