As techy geeks, we tend to accrue lots of electronics over time. Once they are past the point of no return, what are you supposed to do with them? Green Citizen is trying to help geeks like you and I be as green as possible with our worn out electronics by providing proper recycling facilities specifically for old computers, batteries, phones and anything else Silicon Valley has produced in the last 30 years. Don’t dump that old Cathode Ray Tube TV on the curb- bring it to Green Citizen for free! Drop off points are located in downtown San Francisco and Los Altos.
Stay tuned for a conversation with Green Citizen’s CEO James Kao.

This is very cool. I was just talking about this with a friend last week – we have a new European Union directive (called the WEEE for short) which demands that manufacturers are responsible for their e-waste. I guess California’s well ahead of us, as usual. I was wondering what the practical reality of WEEE would be, and how convenient it would be for the public to play their part. I guess this is one way it can really work – I’m going to send this post to my UK MP and European MP.
Do you know of anything like this in NYC? Not even this comprehensive, but any place for just recycling electronics?
I was trying to do some research online for where to bring old cell phones and monitors, but only saw some “special e-recycling events” that happen like twice a year.
