A beautiful day in the park, a fresh homemade meal, some free clothes and books- what could be better? The Really Really Free Market, as opposed to the Not-So-Free Free Market, breaks down the myth of scarcity and encourages us to take advantage of the abundance all around us. Kirsten Brydum, RRFM organizer, gave us the low down on how great it feels to get rid of your stuff, share knowledge and maybe find that odd item you’ve been searching for. This is not a barter situation, where you’re still weighing your stuff against what you think it could be worth in dollars. This is about giving and receiving through a gift economy which encourages sharing without the expectation of payment. The Really Really Free Market is like hanging out on Freecycle or Craigslist Free Listings, except you’re breathing fresh air and seeing people f2f (face to face) instead of p2p (peer to peer)! Imagine that!

Check out the Wikipedia entry on The Really Really Free Market to find one in your area, or start your own! All you need are some friends, some stuff or some knowledge to share!

WORD IS BORN ON THE REALLY REALLY FREE MARKET ( ! ) I am rather impressed with the film makers. This is one of the first representations of the RRFM that I’ve come across and not cringed at. Not only is the camera work beautiful, but the essence of the RRFM is approached with a sensitive ear and respectful mouth. Thank you for sharing this moment of Really Really Free Wisdom. Kirsten Brydum is completely hard-ass and spot-on. Again…WORD IS BORN IN THE MISSION DISTRICT AND BEYOND ( ! )

    Thanks Alex.
We try to let the person speak for themselves. No one wants to see us play “TV reporter”.

We are also really interested in how everyone is making all these philosophies and ideas into real, concrete things. Things that will last and have effect.

So think of Ryanishungry as a documentary of the sustainable movement in all its different forms. Everyone is coming at it from different places.

    Rest In Peace, dear one.

I have never met you but your passions will live on through the lives you have impacted, both in life and in death.

No more. How can we prevent tragedies such as theses to happen again. This is an even greater loss to a larger community. I am left speechless at such acts of horror. This is bullshit. I have several friends on the People’s kitchen heading towards FEMA occupied Texas…i cant imagine what feelings would become of me if they were found in such a state…

Stay safe, and goodbye for now Kirsten.
