We’ve been thinking a lot about how much trash comes in and out of our apartment. We recycle and compost a lot of stuff, but some things, like plastic wrappings, just have no where to go but the garbage. Thinking on a more micro level, we are trying to analyze and reduce those miscellaneous items of trash from even reaching our doorstep. How do you do that when everything you buy, especially your weekly groceries, come in some kind of packaging? Number 1: Stop buying so many packaged foods and supplement them with things you make instead. Number 2: Anything you do buy should be in a recyclable or compostable container. Number 3: Make PANCAKES from scratch! Yes, make pancakes!

OK, when I get home from BlogHer I’m gonna send you this awesome bread recipie. You make a “starter” little ball of dough that’s gonna live in your fridge, and you can pull it out and make bread from it every week. The most work you do is about 20 minutes of kneading, and then just remembering how long to let it rise and when to pull it out of the oven. I love your pancakes, but you may not want to eat them every day for the rest of your life, and delicious bread is really not that hard to fit into your schedule. Now I’m hungry for pancakes though!
Hi Guys,
I’m a friend of Wendy’s and help her with Swap-O-Rama-Rama. Just wanted you to know I nominated you for the Bloggers for Positive Global Change Award. (If you haven’t been already!)
Fabulously inspiring as always. Personally, I alternate between muffins and pancakes. Seems to be cheaper too.
Also, when Cheryl sends that recipe (earlier comment) could you post it some place?
Thanks and keep posting that great stuff and doing that great work!
Pancakes! Yes! I was thinking about something new for breakfast. Pancakes is a great idea.
Don’t you love cooking on cast iron? I use mine so much I never put it away.
Pancakes are such a great idea…and you can add so many things to them to make ‘em different.
Glad to see you’re spreading the word to keep waste to a minimum. YAY!
new apartment -finally my own kitchen - all I’m cookin are PANCAKES
Wow, never thought about that with the bags. Great concept. Were those pancakes burnt or was it just something you mixed in or out on top?
You’re so inspiring Ryanne. I’ve been needing a kick in the butt for a while. I have way too much plastic in our apartment. Pancakes is always great. And now that you have the breadmaker — even better!
Recently I started making batches of pancakes and freezing them. I make mine totally from scratch because most pancake mixes contain milk which I do not eat. I was raised on bisquik so I never knew how EASY they are. On busy mornings I take the pancakes out of the freezer and pop them in the toaster. They can be eaten with syrup but when Im on the run I slather them with peanut butter or honey and eat like a sandwich.
Love the videos, keep them coming!
