For my last birthday, I received a big, old box of fancy handmade soaps and lotions as a present from my mom. She lives in New Bedford, Massachusetts and is big into the local arts and crafts scene, as she was a crafter herself my whole childhood. This luscious cornucopia of products on my doorstep was cultivated and created by Diane Dupont of One Love Body Care, an independent grower and craftsperson making her living out of a workshop in her apartment. I was able to track her down for an interview while I was in town for a visit. Diane is a lively business woman with a knack for telling a good farmer’s market/craft show story. Making a living by growing and perfecting your own product is no small feat, but given the choice to return to a 9-5 office job, Diane tells me she’d never go back in a million years.

she is really engaging on camera and the details of her story are not predictable…I’ve made soap – when I bought the lye at the grocery store the girl checking me out could not get over why I would “bother to make soap”. She kept saying over and over again, “You know, you can just buy soap here – it’s in aisle 10…why don’t you just buy some soap?”
Homeade soap is like homemade food.

I use One Love’s soap, my mum gave them to me for my birthday! They are absolutely my favorite soaps! The vanilla one is the best, i went through it in a week i used it so much! Thanks ry for doing this interview, it made my soapy experience ten times better! And thanks Diane for being so cool!
I have used Diane’s products for seven years and they are the best I have found for my skin. My favorite is the Lavender Bar Soap. I also use the Lavender Spritzer which I use on my bedclothes, these two always help me to have a good nights sleep. Another favorite of mine is the Lip Balm. I find when I put it on over my lipstick, my lipstick last so much longer. I could go on about her products, try them they are all very good. Thanks Diane.
i love these products!! my fav. is coffee mocha it smells so good i could just drink it!!!! LOL!!! my dog smells so good after we used the doggypoo! i would totally recommend these products to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!

I used Jemez Mountain High Lotion. It was given to me by a friend when she was in New Mexico. I LOVE the lotion. It is the only thing that makes my finncky skin happy. I even used it on my face – great stuff!!!
