There are so many words to describe Burning Man that it overwhelms me. If you’ve ever attended the annual desert gathering 100 miles north of Reno, Nevada in ‘Black Rock City‘ of artists, hackers, hippies and yuppies alike, you know what I mean. Burning Man is an experiment in temporary community in the middle of nowhere with no resources except for the stuff you bring. Food, water, shelter, transport and whatever hacked together art or science project you can imagine- these are your life for seven days in the desert with 50,000 new friends. This year was themed ‘The Green Man‘ though it seems that the Burner crowd is generally pretty darn savvy when it comes to recycling the world’s trash into amazing, awe inspiring art and functional pieces of technology, shelter and transport. Here are some snippets of our fun time at Burning Man. Stay tuned for some interviews with Burners making their own renewable energy and sharing it with fellow camps.

Damn, that looks so cool! I have never gone to Burning Man, but after seeing your video I bet I could even convince my hubby to go. Who wouldn’t want to ride around in a giant mechanical spider or see a human zoetrope!? I’m so jealous of you now!
this is the first video that ive seen that makes me actually want to go to burning man. wow. ask eddie, thats a big deal
i didn’t know the burning man thing was so cool. thanks.
Ok, that does it! I am officially going on record as being terminally jealous–Even for an original flower child like me, this looks so amazing that I just want to drop everything and GO! So make room for mom! Hahahahaha!
Very cool, I would love to get there.
Two comments about the site, and the presentation. It took me a while to figure out where the video was. I figured there was a video because I could see comments to it, but I just kept searching and finally found it.
Then since I prefer flash to qt, I clicked the flash, and it showed the bottom right quadrant of the video. I figured this out because I watch ed the quick time version, and then went back to the flash version.
But hey - it’s way way cool.
Thanks for all your efforts everybody!!!!

opps, I think I came in on the wrong page. The reason I couldn’t find the Burning man was that I think I went to the wrong website. When I clicked the link from my email, I think I must have gone to a different part of the site - where there was a picture of Ryan and Jay - all dressed up. Sorry about that folks.

w3rd!
you know they used to be strict about cameras and video cameras… you had to get approval (theoretically) before filming at Bman because they didn’t want just anybody coming in and filming nekkid people or what have you.
Pretty cool.
That is so cool Ryanne, all my friends from Art Graduate School attend Burning man all the way from Upstate NY. They rave about it. They’ve been trying to get me to go for three years now. I think next year might be the year for me. I’ll have to plan for it.
Does seem super dooper fun.
Big hugs,
Zulma with her camera still in the shop.
I’m not sure how it was in the past…but they got clear rules now.

you got to register your camera…then agree to take down any
photo/video they feel is inappropriate. I bet they just want to avoid people coming and making videos of just the naked people. Got to respect the freedom!
Glad you guys made it. Everyone should go at least once. Except people who hate dust storms and nekkid white people.
Irina’s right. First video that makes me actually want to be there and that’s a real feat.
I have been back 1 day and I am so homesick for the playa I am surfing for snippets of 2007. Glad you captured the Monkeys! Thanks for posting your video.
I’m glad you could post so quickly. This newb is barely crawling outa there and still stuck post Burn Reno which is a whole different kinda bizarre.
Yo, Ryan–Thanks for the quick hit of playa magic as I sit here jonesing for more. This was my 11th year and turns out a JADED FUCK like me can be reborn into a believer again. The art was completely off the hook and totally unique to Burning Man. Totally inspiring event! And looks like from the above ressponses the attendee # will continue to jump.
that was awesome
that must have been awesome to go to.
Lots of cool clean powered things.
