The Great Village is a videoblog born from the peeps who make Seesmic, a microblogging site for folks to converse through webcams. Think video version of Twitter. Recently featured on The Great Village, was Melinda Stone of HowToHomestead.org. Filmmaker, teacher and farmer, Melinda shows how she’s livin’ in Northern CA. We were tickled that she mentioned our Apartment Composting 101 video. Thanks Melinda and Giselle for including a clip.

Wow Melinda Stone taught me how to make a pinhole camera out of a cartridge of Super 8 film ten years ago. There’s such an interesting connection between filmmakers and farming. I guess you ask the same questions. How can I become self-sufficient? The more control, the more freedom.
Great information and format. Tech Q – what program is that being used in this vid? the frame within a frame look?
Good question. Ask the folks over at http://www.thegreatvillage.com/ who edited the video. I think it’s probably done in Final Cut Pro. Take a still frame and put a moving image in a certain frame.
