Our dear friend, co-creator of the amazing Freshtopia.net, Oscar Grimm passed away last week after fighting brain cancer for the last two years. We are deeply saddened that the world has lost such a smart, creative and caring person. Our hearts go out to his partner in crime Tanja Andrews.

We first met Oscar and Tanja in 2006 at the Geeks Off The Grid Montana meet up, though they were our Bay Area neighbors at the time. Soon we visited their Oakland warehouse space where Freshtopia was born. The treated us to raw chocolate treats and fine conversation about being geeky and eating raw. Oscar, you will be missed.

Oscar, Tanja and Barb of Freshtopia fame invited Jay, Eddie Codel and I for a cozy dinner party at their place. Since we started gardening at the Eco-Village, we’ve become avid “chefs” and far healthier eaters. We were excited to share some home grown veggies and cooking fun with friends! Thanks Freshtopia!

We recently met Tanja and Oscar from Freshtopia at the Off The Grid Meetup in Montana. They live in Oakland and produce a kick ass videoblog about raw foods and the new green movement happening throughout the world. We love their vlog and have been inspired to start eating more raw foods because of it. Check out some rad episodes: Chocolate Part 1 and Part 2 and a visit to a Cooperative Garden in Oakland.
